Elle Nieto-Brodnick discovered her passion for bonsai appreciation and cultivation during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic while actively working in healthcare.
Her journey commenced with immersing herself in online videos and attending enlightening lectures, which eventually paved the way for her to participate in enriching workshops and classes conducted by esteemed individuals such as Andy Smith, Owen Reich, Will Baddeley, Julian Tsai, and David Cutchin.
Within her four years of honing her bonsai craft guided by the intensive knowledge and practice she receives from Bjorn Bjorholm, Mauro Stemberger, and Todd Schlafer, she exhibits unwavering dedication as a student, consistently enhancing and refining her skills and developing character traits reflective of a disciplined and committed bonsai practitioner.
Presently, she imparts her knowledge by teaching novice to intermediate bonsai enthusiasts at The Hidden Gardens Bonsai alongside her peers, steadily progressing towards establishing herself as a promising bonsai artist in the making. She has been invited by the Springfield Bonsai Society, Ann Arbor Bonsai Society, and Midwest Bonsai Society and provided demonstrations/workshops for their members.
“A great bonsai can hold the horticultural, technical, and artistic knowledge or skills per se of the artist who painstakingly created and nurtured it.”
